On 9 November 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia to Ukraine Bruce Edwards.
Yevheniy Yenin emphasized that Ukraine highly appreciates strong support by the Australian side of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and Australia’s constructive position within the framework of international organizations.
Bruce Edwards underlined the Australian leadership’s interest in strengthening and further developing friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Ukraine on the basis of common values.
The Deputy Minister and the newly appointed Ambassador discussed ways of developing productive cooperation between two countries in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.
The parties also agreed to actively coordinate efforts on MH17.
Yevheniy Yenin asked to expedite the consideration of Ukraine’s inclusion into the Australian System of Tariff Preferences that would contribute to the increase of the bilateral trade turnover.
The interlocutors also agreed that the establishment of a solid platform in the format of the Australia-Ukraine Business Council would secure the constant dialogue between Ukrainian and Australian businesses and facilitate the implementation of mutually beneficial bilateral projects.
Yevheniy Yenin wished Bruce Edwards the best of success in his diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
