On the sidelines of the Forum Minister Gryshchenko met with the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to discuss the prospects of Ukraine-EU association agreement conclusion, as well as strengthening cooperation in the context of continued Poland’s support of European integration aspirations of Ukraine.
Special attention was attached to ongoing cooperation between the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Poland on preparation of European Football Championship EURO 2012.
Minister Sikorski stressed the importance of recent visit to Poland by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov on March 22, 2012.
Both Ministers also exchanged views on how to strengthen energy security in the region.
The same day Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The meeting focused on preparation for NATO Summit in Chicago on May 20-21, 2012, as well as celebration of 15th Anniversary of Ukraine-NATO Charter on Distinctive Partnership. Ukrainian Foreign Minister and NATO Secretary General underlined the importance of cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance on providing security of EURO 2012 in Ukraine.
Mr. Rasmussen welcomed Ukraine’s intention to join NATO’s counter-piracy operation Ocean Shield in 2013.
On March 24, 2012 Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko will address the Forum during the session «The Eastern European Partners: Going East, West, or Nowhere?», take part in a debate «European Neighborhood: more for more or just nothing», and meet members of U.S. Congress and Government.
