On February, 26-27 the Ukrainian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Mykytenko, took part in national celebrations on the occasion of 50th Anniversary of Independence and 20th Anniversary of Liberation, and 5th anniversary of HH the Amir's Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah assumption of power.

Ukrainian delegation was present at a military parade and participated in other grand events, in which Yevhen Mykytenko met with Emir of Kuwait, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the country. During the brief conversations the Ukrainian diplomat conveyed greetings of the Ukraine’s leaders on anniversary dates, exchanged views on the current situation of Ukrainian-Kuwaiti relations and prospects of bilateral cooperation. The parties discussed the state of preparation of the planned visit of the Head of Kuwaiti Government to Kyiv.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held bilateral meetings with heads of official delegations – Iraqi President J.Talabani, Arab League Secretary-General A.Mousa, Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Jordan and UAE.

During the visit Yevhen Mykytenko and members of delegation visited the Ukrainian booth on the "Kuwait and International Relations Exhibition" and delivered to Kuwaiti partners a list of investment projects of Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Donetsk and Rivne regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Ukraine was the only CIS country, which high-level representatives participated in the celebration of national Kuwaiti festivities.
