On 24 February 2011 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of Ukraine–NATO bilateral agenda and actual international problems. The Secretary General informed the Minister for Foreign Affaires about reforms in NATO according to the tasks set in the new Strategic Concept.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine paid special attention to the effective use of the existing instruments and mechanisms of Ukraine’s interaction with the Alliance. The readiness to continue cooperation in peacekeeping activities and in counteraction against present-day challenges and threats was confirmed.
The Secretary General highly appreciated Ukraine’s contribution to preserving international peace and security. A.F.Rasmussen confirmed NATO’s interest to further develop bilateral relations in reforming security and defense sectors of Ukraine, counteracting cybercrimes, maintaining security on the sea and ensuring the energy security.
The parties confirmed mutual interest to further strengthen partnership between Ukraine and the Alliance as an important element of the security architecture both in Europe and worldwide.
