In the framework of the working visit to the Italian Republic Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara met Italian MPs Sandro Gozi, Andrea Manchyulli and Roberto Formigoni.
The issues of bilateral cooperation, including ways to enhance inter-parliamentary contacts between Ukraine and Italy were discussed during the talks. In this context, the Parties confirmed the effectiveness of parliamentary “groups of friends” of Ukraine and Italy.
Special attention was paid to the prospects of signing of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on 28-29 November 2013. Minister informed about the progress achieved by Ukraine in meeting the tasks required for the Agreement to be signed in Vilnius. Leonid Kozhara also expressed hope for early ratification of the Association Agreement by the Parliament of Italy.
The activity of the Council of Europe as well as bilateral co-operation within the framework of the PACE was also touched upon. Both sides noted the similar positions of both countries on a number of issues on the Organization’s agenda.
