The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and his Austrian counterpart, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria Dr. Johannes Kyrle discussed a full range of bilateral issues, as well as state and prospects of cooperation in the framework of international organizations.
The sides highly appreciated the active dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue, above all, the results of official visit to Kyiv in October President of the National Council of Austria Barbara Prammer. Both delegations also focused on the planned bilateral activities for 2012.
Given the fact that in 2011 Austria ranks the fourth among countries in terms of foreign direct investments in the economy of Ukraine, Mr. Klimkin expressed his hope for continuation of this positive trend in trade, economic and investment cooperation between both countries. In this context, inter alia, he stressed the need to intensify cooperation on joint projects within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.
Dr. Kyrle gave a positive assessment of the level of cooperation between Ukraine and Austria in the framework of international organizations, which, in his opinion, need to be further maintained.
The parties shared the view on the importance of continuing the practice of bilateral consultations between foreign ministries of Ukraine and Austria on topical issues of mutual interest.
