On December 8, 2011 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Toiti Sakata.
The parties highly appreciated the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to Japan in January this year. They discussed prospects for further development of cooperation in political, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as ways to implement joint projects in the Green Investment Scheme.
Ambassador Sakata expressed gratitude, on behalf of the Government of Japan, for providing humanitarian assistance by the Ukrainian side, and thanked the Government of Ukraine for the readiness to continue Ukraine’s participation in the process of overcoming the consequences of the accident at "Fukushima-1" nuclear power plant.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister said that the Government of Ukraine intends to further develop bilateral cooperation with Japan in all areas and invited his colleague - the Minister for Foreign Affairs Koichiro Gemba to visit Ukraine.
