On November 24, 2011 the Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Kostyantyn Gryshchenko has started his official visit to the Republic of India and held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Shivshankar Menon, National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of further development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Ukraine and India and expressed their readiness for enhancement of bilateral political dialogue. Interlocutors also noted the positive results of the Kyiv Summit on Safe and Innovative Use of Nuclear Energy on April 19, 2011, and discussed perspectives of interaction in nuclear energy sphere. The issues of Ukrainian-Indian defence cooperation, combating terrorism and piracy, reforms of the UN Security Council. Also was gained an agreement regarding exchange of visits between the heads of national security institutions of both states.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Kostyantyn Gryshchenko held the meeting with the Honorary Consuls of Ukraine in the City of Mumbai, India, Mr. Kamal Krishnan Singh, to Sri-Lanka, Mr. Daya Weththasinghe, to Bangladesh Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and to Nepal Mr. Kiran Vaidya.
During the meeting the issues of cooperation between Ukraine and other countries of accreditation of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of India were raised. In the course of the discussion Minister K.Gryshchenko stressed on the necessity to continue the active cooperation on protection of rights and interests of the Ukrainian nationals and on promotion of the economic interests of our state in the above-mentioned countries.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Honorary Consuls for their contribution in the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and their states.
