On May 29, 2014 Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia particularly greeted the two largest contingents of Ukraine in United Nations peacekeeping missions – in Liberia and the Democratic Republic of Congo – on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
During Skype calls with troop commanders A. Deshchytsia wished Ukrainian peacekeepers good health and strong spirit in their future service for peace and security, underlined that their professionalism and dedication are highly valued both in Ukraine and worldwide, and assured that Ukrainian diplomats will use all available political and diplomatic means to provide background for the decent performance by the peacekeepers of their noble mission.
Ukrainian contingent commanders Olexandr Venger and Andrii Kohut expressed their sincere gratitude for the greetings and confirmed that their units are ready to further perform UN Missions’ peacekeeping tasks on a high professional level.
All sides expressed hope for an early settlement of the situation in Eastern Ukraine, involving all appropriate means.
