On 9 September 2014, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya received First Assistant (on European issues) Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia Jeremy Newman and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Ukraine (with residence in Warsaw) Jean Dunn
During the meeting a special attention was given to the efforts aimed at resolving the situation in the Eastern regions of Ukraine. In this regard Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed his gratitude to the Government of Australia for the support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In his turn, Jeremy Newman reiterated that the official Canberra’s position on support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remained unchanged.
The parties discussed the cooperation on investigation of the catastrophe of MH17. As Sergiy Kyslytsya stressed the core interest of Ukraine is to ensure comprehensive, transparent and unbiased international investigation of the tragedy of MH17.
During the meeting the parties also exchanged views on current state and prospects of development of Ukrainian-Australian relations. In this context counterparts underlined the necessity of maintaining regular political dialogue as well as intensifying trade and economic cooperation.
