In view of recent statements of the Russian high-level public officials regarding ratification and forthcoming implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, on 17 September 2014, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine for European integration of O.Zerkal held a meeting with Charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Ukraine A.Vorobyov.
During the meeting it was emphasized on unacceptability of unilateral arbitrary interpretation by the Russian side of the agreements reached in the course of Ukraine-EU-Russia Trilateral Ministerial meeting on issues of implementation of the Association Agreement, that took place on 12 September in Brussels. It was underlined that the the joint statement of the trilateral ministerial meeting remain the only official document outlining the commitments of the parties and their next steps aimed at de-escalation of tensions in trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Russia.
The Russian representative was provided with comprehensive explanation of the legal procedures undertaken for the entry of the Association Agreement into force.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the need for the Russian side observe accurately and fully the trilateral agreements regarding the continued application of the CIS FTA provisions, as well as to ensure the immediate lifting of all unilateral restrictive measures on imports from Ukraine as introduced by Russia in recent months.
