On April 24, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Ambassador of Chile to Ukraine with residence in Moscow Juan Eduardo Eguiguren signed the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Chile on Mutual Travel Requirements Applicable to their Nationals.
According to the provisions of the Agreement, the nationals of Ukraine will be entitled to enter, exit, cross in transit and stay in the territory of the Republic of Chile for the purpose other than immigration, residence or performance of gainful activity without a visa for a maximum period of up to 90 days. With the same purpose the nationals of the Republic of Chile will be able to enter, exit, cross in transit and stay in the territory of Ukraine without a visa for a maximum period of up to 90 days within 180 days from the date of the first entry. The Agreement will enter into force after accomplishment of the respective legal formalities by the Parties.
After the signing ceremony, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ambassador of Chile discussed the key issues of the Ukraine-Chile relations, in particular political dialogue, as well as prospects of bilateral economic cooperation. Special attention was paid to the situation in Eastern Ukraine. In this regard Pavlo Klimkin expressed appreciation for the consistent position of Chile on supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the international arena, particularly in the United Nations Security Council.
