Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Columbia Mr. Jaime Bermúdez within the framework of the London Conference on Afghanistan. During the meeting they discussed the prospects of strengthening bilateral relations, as well as issues of the international agenda, particularly the fight against terrorism and piracy. Particular attention was given to strengthening the cooperation within the UN framework.

The Ministers agreed to finalize and prepare for signing the Treaty between Ukraine and Columbia on Friendly Relations and Cooperation. Both sides confirmed their interest in developing cooperation in the field of trade and economy, as well as tourism and people-to-people contacts.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine invited his Columbian colleague to visit Ukraine in the second half of 2010. The invitation was gratefully taken.
