Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Petro Poroshenko met British Ambassador Mr. Leigh Turner on 26 January 2010.

Mr. Poroshenko expressed his gratitude for Britain's consistent support of Ukrainian aspirations for the EU membership and stressed that our country will remain a strategic partner of the United Kingdom.

The sides discussed bilateral political dialogue agenda for 2010 and ways for further development of economic cooperation between Ukraine and the UK.

Mr. Poroshenko underlined need for continuation of consultations with Great Britain, a country outside the Schengen zone, on concluding a visa facilitation agreement between our two countries similar to the Visa facilitation agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

Mr. Poroshenko and Mr. Turner discussed the issues related to the London Conference on Afghanistan (London, 28 January 2010). Mr Poroshenko will take part in this conference in the framework of his working visit to London on 27-28 January 2010.
