On July 7, 2010 Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Mykytenko received the Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt to Ukraine Mr. Yasir Atef.
During the meeting the Sides praised the high level of the Ukrainian-Egyptian cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres. At the same time the Sides expressed readiness to give a new impetus to the relations through setting out an agenda of the bilateral visits at the high and the highest levels.
The Ambassador of Egypt conveyed a letter from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Egypt Ahmed Abul Geit to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko.
The Sides discussed the state of the legal and contractual base between Ukraine and Egypt, and agreed to sign several bilateral agreements during the Sixth meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic, scientific and technical cooperation which is planned for November 2010 in Cairo.
During the meeting it was stated that due to the stable growth of the bilateral trade Egypt became the main trade partner of Ukraine among the stats of Middle East and Africa.
Summing up the prospects of the Ukrainian-Egyptian bilateral cooperation a special attention was paid to the development of relations in oil and gas sector, agriculture, aerospace industry and military-technical cooperation.
