On 18 February 2017 in the framework of the 53rd Munich Security Conference Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland.
The ministers discussed a wide range of issues of the bilateral Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation.
The ministers exchanged views on the perspectives of the intensification of Ukrainian-Canadian trade after the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) enters into force.
Pavlo Klimkin informed his counterpart in detail about the situation in Donbas, in particular about the recent escalation in Avdiyivka caused by Russian troops and Russia-backed militants, as well as about numerous violations of human rights in the temporary occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
Chrystia Freeland confirmed Canada's consistent support to Ukraine in the context of Russia's aggression against our country.
