4 October in Helsinki Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Pavlo Klimkin took part in Sherpa preparatory meeting for Nuclear Security Summit, to be held in Seoul in March 2012.
In a framework of Sherpa meeting Pavlo Klimkin contributed to the discussion of the draft Final document (Communiqué) of the Seoul Summit. He also reconfirmed the strong adherence of Ukraine to strengthen security of nuclear materials as well as to overcome the threat of nuclear terrorism.
Later in the day Ukrainian-Finnish political consultations on European integration of Ukraine were held in Helsinki.
The sides discussed key issues of Ukraine – EU agenda and exchanged views on the conclusion of negotiations on Ukraine – EU Association Agreement. Finnish side confirmed its willingness to assist in successful conclusion of negotiations by the end of this year.
Pavlo Klimkin also met with Secretary of State of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland Pertti Torstila and Under-Secretary of State Jaakko Laajava.
In the context of bilateral relations sides discussed ways for further intensification of political dialogue, cooperation within international organizations and interaction between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Finland.
