During the working visit to Finland on August 29 this year Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja
The meeting noted the intensity of political dialogue between Ukraine and Finland, and discussed the prospects for its further development. In this regard the parties discussed the possibility of organizing a visit to Ukraine, the newly appointed head of the government of Finland J. Kataynena and political consultations between foreign ministries of both countries.
Special attention during a conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland was given the expansion of bilateral legal base. Gryshchenko The meeting also discussed the prospects of intensification of bilateral cooperation, especially in trade and economic cooperation, and therefore noted the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Development. Hryshchenko stressed the priority of increasing the volume of Ukrainian exports to Finland and the Finnish attraction of investing in Ukraine.
In focus were the issues of Ukraine's European integration, particularly in the context of the negotiations with the European Union Association Agreement, including the establishment of free trade, as well as implementing the EU Action Plan to liberalize visa regime for Ukrainian citizens. During the meeting, E. Tuomioja stressed the support of the official Helsinki European aspirations of Ukraine.
Gryshchenko invited E. Tuomioja to visit Ukraine at the appropriate time for him.
