On 22-23 May 2019, Deputy Minister Yehor Bozhok visited Budapest to attend the regular Nuclear Security Contact Group meeting, where he delivered a speech.
Yehor Bozhok took on the symbolic opportunity of holding the international event related to nuclear security in Budapest to remind the international community of the existence of the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances for Ukraine in connection with the abandonment of nuclear weapons, which Russia has been brutally violating since 2014.
In the framework of the visit Yehor Bozhok had the meetings with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Parliamentary State Secretary Levente Magyar and State Secretary for Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Sztaray.
During the bilateral meetings the attention was paid to cooperation in continuing international pressure on Russia for its aggression against Ukraine and prolongation of the EU sanctions for non-fulfillment of the Minsk Agreements by Moscow.
Yehor Bozhok informed about the Ukraine's implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission in the context of the Law of Ukraine "On Education" realization, as well as on the main provisions of the Law "On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language".
The ways of bringing the bilateral dialogue to a level that is in line with the interests of both countries and nations were discussed. Expressing hopes for the restoration of Hungarian support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, Yehor Bozhok offered to elaborate a package of practical projects that would give a real result of cooperation, beneficial for our states in general, and for the representatives of national minorities in particular.
The interest to hold a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in the near future was confirmed.
