On Monday, August 25, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha received a delegation from the global network United for Ukraine (U4U), which currently brings together about 400 representatives of national parliaments from Europe, the US, Canada, and other democratic states.
This network was created immediately after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion on the initiative of Andrius Kubilius, then a member of the European Parliament, who is now European Commissioner for Defence and Space. The key goal of United for Ukraine is to consolidate political efforts and exert pressure on national governments and international institutions to provide Ukraine with weapons, increase sanctions pressure on Russia, and invest in Ukrainian reconstruction.
Andrii Sybiha informed the delegation members about the latest diplomatic efforts of Ukraine and its allies to achieve a just and lasting peace, emphasizing the importance of transatlantic unity and security guarantees for Ukraine.
"Your visit is an important signal to the Ukrainian people that we are not alone today. Ukraine is fighting for the values on which the entire democratic world is built, for the principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter. It is in Ukraine today that the future of the entire transatlantic community is being determined. And at this moment, our main strength is in the unity of Ukraine and our allies," Andrii Sybiha noted.
The minister emphasized that the unconditional priority of Ukrainian diplomacy is the state's defense capability, and thanked parliamentarians for their personal efforts and initiatives in this regard. The Armed Forces of Ukraine and the powerful military-industrial complex are one of the key guarantees of security and a condition for lasting peace in Europe. Therefore, increasing military support for Ukraine and investing in the Ukrainian defense sector should be a priority for Western allies at both the national and international levels.
Andrii Sybiha called for increased pressure on Russia, primarily through sanctions, in order to raise the price of aggression for the Kremlin regime and force it to peace through force.
The minister stressed that Ukraine's membership in the EU should also be considered in the context of achieving lasting peace in Europe, and called on representatives of the United for Ukraine network to help Ukraine and Moldova open their first clusters together this year.
