Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a productive call with Germany’s Federal Foreign Minister and my friend Johann Wadephul. 

I updated him on the consequences of the recent intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which have left many communities without electricity, heating, and water in the middle of winter.  

We highly appreciate Germany’s leadership in providing comprehensive support to Ukraine — from defense to energy and humanitarian assistance. The recently announced new energy assistance package is another timely and life-saving help for the Ukrainian people. 

We discussed recent developments in the peace process, urgent steps to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, air defense, and energy resilience. 

I emphasized the need for the strong EU 20th sanctions package. Grateful for Germany’s principled stance on increasing the cost of war for the aggressor and enhancing effectiveness of sanctions measures against Russia’s shadow fleet. 

We coordinated our positions ahead of the upcoming FAC meeting and agreed on next bilateral contacts."
