Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a productive call with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica Manuel Tovar and congratulated him on his appointment. Grateful for Costa Rica’s steadfast support for Ukraine, first of all on the international arena.
I also thanked Costa Rica for its participation in the Crimea Platform and the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and joining the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine.
We discussed further cooperation within these important initiatives. I informed my colleague about the latest battlefield developments, Russia’s continued drone and missile attacks against Ukraine, our diplomatic efforts, and steps toward a comprehensive and lasting peace.
We also discussed Russia’s growing engagement with Nicaragua, including in the military sphere. Moscow continues to export instability far beyond Europe, using military and political tools to expand its influence and undermine regional security. This once again demonstrates that Russia’s aggressive ambitions extend well beyond Ukraine and pose a broader threat to international peace and stability.
We noted the positive momentum in Ukraine–Costa Rica relations and agreed on next contacts and practical steps to further deepen our bilateral cooperation. I invited Minister Tovar to visit Kyiv and look forward to continuing our close dialogue".
