Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a productive call with Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister Manuel Tovar Rivera.
I briefed my colleague on Russia’s continued missile and drone attacks against Ukraine. Russia is increasing its strikes against our cities and critical infrastructure, making the need to strengthen and close Ukraine’s sky ever more urgent.
We also discussed the situation in the Black Sea. Russia is attacking ports, civilian vessels, and maritime routes, seeking to disrupt freedom of navigation. By threatening Ukraine’s maritime corridor, Moscow is creating serious risks for global food security far beyond our region.
We exchanged views on broader global security and regional developments. I am grateful to Costa Rica for being a strong voice in support of Ukraine in Latin America, including in international fora, and for joining the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.
We agreed to advance mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Costa Rica and discussed our upcoming contacts during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York.
I look forward to continuing our close dialogue and turning it into more practical cooperation between our countries".
