Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I met with Rafael Grossi to inform about Russia’s reckless strikes on Ukraine’s energy system that create risks for our nuclear objects and threaten nuclear and radiation safety of the entire Europe.
I appreciate the Director General’s recognition of the high professionalism of Ukrainian energy professionals who operate nuclear power plants in extreme conditions of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy grid.
I updated Mr. Grossi about peace efforts, Ukraine’s position regarding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, and the need to counter threats caused by Russia.
Grateful to the IAEA for the decision to further expand the scope of its monitoring missions at Ukraine’s nuclear energy objects.
Ukraine proposed amendements to the IAEA Statute to develop effective ways to restrict the rights and privileges of IAEA member state recognised as aggressor by the UN General Assembly.
I thanked the IAEA for its medical equipment and other aid to Ukraine, assisting our energy workers, and suggested to expand our humanitarian cooperation."
