On Friday, 13 February, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Germany, Andrii Sybiha and Johann Wadephul, opened the Ukrainian House on the margins of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
This year, three national houses will operate during the conference: the Ukrainian, German, and American houses. Andrii Sybiha emphasized that this is fair and reflects Ukraine’s decisive role in the system of collective security.
“Ukraine is a priority at this year’s conference. We have entered a new era. The outsourcing of security for Europe is over. The time has come to build our own internal strength. And this is only possible with Ukraine as an integral part of the new European security architecture,” the Minister stated.
The Foreign Minister recalled that Ukraine faces daily destruction of its cities, homes, hospitals, schools, and energy infrastructure as a result of Russian terror and missile strikes.
“The Ukrainian House was created not only to demonstrate what Russia destroys. It is intended to show what Ukraine builds: protection, innovation, and resilience - solutions that make Europe stronger. We have learned difficult lessons, and we are ready to share them,” he emphasized.
According to Andrii Sybiha, over the next two days the Ukrainian House will serve as a platform for discussions not only about Ukraine but also about the broader European defence system - from the situation on the battlefield to energy security, from supply chains to defence innovations.
“It would be fair to call this place the European House. After all, Europe is our common home. And we all want it to be well protected, successful, and comfortable. We must take responsibility into our own hands. The time when Europe relied on external forces for protection has passed. We have sufficient strength of our own - we only need to recognize it. And Ukraine is a key source of this genuine European strength,” the Foreign Minister stated.
The Minister also noted that the Ukrainian House honors the memory of Ukraine’s fallen heroes and once again emphasized that “memory is not a violation.”
“I want the Ukrainian House to become a Point of Invincibility for the Munich Security Conference - a centre of realistic thinking, solidarity, and decisive action. A place of inspiration where one can find true inner strength. Today, Ukraine is the Point of Invincibility of Europe - its main centre of resilience,” he stressed.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Munich Security Conference for enabling the implementation of the Ukrainian House project.
