On April 26, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ukraine Alessia Schiavon.
The meeting took place following a visit to Ukraine from April 8 to 12 by Amy Pope, Director-General of the International Organization for Migration.
The parties positively noted the level of cooperation between Ukraine and the IOM, primarily aimed at overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining the current level of assistance to Ukraine, which has amounted to half a billion dollars since the full-scale invasion of Russia.
The First Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the implementation of the Strategic Response Plan for Ukraine for 2024-2026, which has a total budget of $1.5 billion.
Andrii Sybiha underlined the importance of IOM Ukraine's continued active engagement in assisting affected communities and restoring civilian infrastructure and its participation in housing and microcredit programs, job creation, and shelter construction.
"IOM will assist the Government of Ukraine in the reconstruction and development of infrastructure and will launch new programs to support communities and economic development in Ukraine, with a total budget of several dozen million dollars," said Alessia Schiavon.
The parties also discussed the implementation of joint projects under the recently signed Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the IOM. These projects aim to enhance the digital transformation processes within the Ministry and improve access to consular services for Ukrainian citizens.
The parties agreed to continue strengthening cooperation to achieve the successful implementation of the International Organization for Migration's projects to support Ukraine.
