On June 21, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a meeting with Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine Visvaldas Kulbokas.

Andrii Sybiha expressed gratitude to the Holy See for its support to Ukraine, especially in the context of the return of Ukrainian citizens from Russian captivity.

The interlocutors discussed in detail the role of the Holy See in joining the humanitarian points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula in the context of implementation of point 4 Release of prisoners and deported persons. It was positivly note the participation of Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, in the Global Peace Summit.

Special attention was paid to the return of Ukrainian children forcibly deported by Russia.

The parties also focused on the massive cases of harsh treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian occupiers.

The Vatican side has been requested to provide strong assistance in ensuring the rights of our prisoners of war in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
