21 May 2026 20:36

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a good first meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova on the sidelines of the NATO-Ukraine Council and congratulated my new Bulgarian colleague on her appointment.

We had a constructive exchange on a broad bilateral agenda and reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations.

I thanked my colleague for her clear and principled stance in support of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

Bulgaria is an important partner of Ukraine, and we look forward to continuing our cooperation in mutually beneficial areas, including in strengthening Black Sea security.

I updated my colleague on where we are in peace efforts and how we can strengthen European unity, which is essential for achieving a lasting peace.

I also underscored the importance of Bulgaria’s continued support for Ukraine’s path toward the EU. Our shared future lies in a strong, resilient, and united Europe".
