On 12 November, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister, Chief Digital Transformation Officer Anton Demokhin participated in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum on Cybersecurity 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the meeting, Anton Demokhin called on world leaders in the field of cybersecurity to strengthen collective efforts to counteract the use of modern technologies as an instrument of aggression against states. In this context, the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized the importance of global cooperation to maintain security and stability in the face of new threats.
Also, Deputy Foreign Minister participated in a plenary session on cybersecurity and spoke at a high-level panel discussion on «Security in the Age of Intelligence».
Anton Demоkhin drew the participant's attention to the numerous challenges Ukraine faces in the field of cybersecurity, starting with the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the armed aggression in Donbas in 2014, as well as the threats related to the full-scale war against Ukraine.
«With the development of modern systems such as artificial intelligence and quantum technologies, the world needs active cooperation between states, the private sector and international organisations to regulate these powerful tools. This will reduce the risks of their use as means of military aggression, which Russia has repeatedly used against Ukraine in recent years», he said.
The Deputy Minister noted positive changes in the regulation and control of technologies, both at the national level and at the level of international organisations. The Ukrainian diplomat outlined the main areas of Ukraine's work in countering Russia's full-scale aggression in the areas of critical infrastructure protection and countering disinformation, and expressed readiness to share relevant positive experience to strengthen international security.
Anton Demokhin thanked the participants and partners who support Ukraine and once again called for intensification of joint actions aimed at preventing the use of cyberspace as the fifth domain of warfare.
