On Friday, June 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba addressed the 54th session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States, which brings together 34 countries of the Americas, in a video message.
"Ukraine has good relations with many American countries, and we are committed to strengthening our cooperation. This year, for the first time in our history, we have adopted a separate foreign policy strategy for the development of relations with Latin America and the Caribbean. This is a comprehensive plan to deepen contacts, create new opportunities for cooperation and expand Ukraine's diplomatic presence," the Minister said.
Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine is determined to realize the great potential of the relations and named a number of advantages of cooperation with our country for the countries of the region.
"As a result of the war, Ukraine has vast experience in the security sector and we are ready to share it. We also have considerable experience in countering hybrid threats, including disinformation and cyberattacks. During the war, Ukraine has significantly developed its high-tech sector, not only in the military but also in the civilian sphere, including agriculture. As one of the leaders in digitalization in Europe, Ukraine is ready to help your countries digitize their governance, banking, and public services for your citizens. These are just some of the areas in which cooperation with Ukraine brings tangible benefits to your countries and people," the Minister said.
The Foreign Minister also reminded that Ukraine has significant capabilities in Antarctic research, in particular with the use of the research icebreaker "Noosphere".
"At the same time, the restoration of a just peace and respect for international law is critical for the development of cooperation in all these areas. We must achieve this through joint efforts," he said.
The Foreign Minister expressed special gratitude to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro for his participation in the first Peace Summit in Switzerland and his support for global peacekeeping efforts.
The Minister also thanked for the solidarity of all the American states that participated in the Summit and signed its final communiqué. He called on those who have not yet joined the document to add their signatures, as well as to take an active part in the further implementation of the Peace Formula and work to restore the full force of the UN Charter.
"Only through joint efforts and commitment to the goals and principles of the UN Charter can we end the war, restore justice and create a solid foundation for sustainable development and prosperity for people in Ukraine and the rest of the world," concluded Dmytro Kuleba.
