During the 54th session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States in Asunción, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Iryna Borovets held a series of meetings and discussions with the leadership of the Republic of Paraguay, including President Santiago Peña Palacios, First Lady Leticia Ocampos, Vice-President Pedro Alliana, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Raul Latorre, Minister for Foreign Affairs Ruben Lezcano, and Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Relations and Integration Patricia Frutos.

Iryna Borovets provided an update on the current situation in Ukraine amid the full-scale russian invasion, and the ongoing European integration reforms despite the russian aggression. She emphasized the intention to deepen Ukrainian-Paraguayan relations. Ukrainian diplomat also highlighted the outcomes of the Global Peace Summit held on June 15-16 in Switzerland, urging official Asunción to support its Joint Communiqué and join the international efforts to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

President Santiago Peña Palacios expressed solidarity with Ukraine during this difficult time, while Vice President Pedro Alliana praised the courage of Ukrainian defenders and assured that Ukraine can fully count on Paraguay's support.

During the meeting with the First Lady Leticia Ocampos, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine invited her to the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, focusing on child safety.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay Raul Latorre noted the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people for their freedom, condemned the russian aggression and stressed that the truth is on Ukraine's side. Iryna Borovets invited him to attend the Third Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform. The parties also considered intensification of bilateral inter-parliamentary contacts.

With the Foreign Minister of Paraguay Ruben Lezcano, Iryna Borovets explored further development of cooperation between the two countries both at the bilateral level and within international organizations. Ruben Lezcano assured that the official Asunción is considering joining the Joint Communiqué of the Swiss Peace Summit. They discussed possible measures to further develop the Ukrainian-Paraguayan relations.

During the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Relations and Integration Patricia Frutos the focus was on deepening trade relations. Iryna Borovets and Patricia Frutos discussed concrete steps in this direction, such as the Second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Paraguayan Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the business forum within its framework to be held in the second half of this year. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine invited Paraguay to join the implementation of point 2 "Food security" of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, as well as international efforts to rebuild Ukraine.

Additionally, Iryna Borovets gave an interview to "Última Hora," one of Paraguay’s leading media outlets.

These events have contributed to the further intensification of Ukrainian-Paraguayan cooperation.
