The delegation of Ukraine, headed by Deputy Minister Iryna Borovets, took part in the 54th session of the General Assembly of the OAS, which was held in Asuncion, Paraguay. During the event, the delegation of Ukraine has taken the floor during the Dialogue of Member States with Observer States and during the 4th plenary session.
In her speeches, Iryna Borovets expressed gratitude to the OAS member states and to the leadership of the Organization for their steadfast support of Ukraine and 6 documents adopted within the OAS for this purpose since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The head of the delegation also presented video addresses of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Minister Dmytro Kuleba to the participants of the event. The Leaders expressed their gratitude to all OAS member countries that participated in the First Peace Summit held in Switzerland on June 15-16, and to all those who supported the Joint Communiqué. The Leaders also invited countries that have not yet done so to support the Joint Communiqué. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that security and stability can only be guaranteed in unity. Minister Kuleba emphasized Ukraine's experience in the field of security, countering hybrid threats, high-tech capabilities and digitalization, which can become the basis for deepening cooperation.
In addition, on the sidelines of the OAS General Assembly, the Ukrainian delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of the OAS member states, which for various reasons did not participate in the First Peace Summit. The main points of the meetings were to engage the Latin American and the Caribbean states to join the peace initiatives of Ukraine, specifically, to work on the implementation of the Summit accords and individual points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, as well as to the participate in the International Crimean Platform. The delegation also talked on deepening of bilateral cooperation, including by intensifying visits and strengthening trade and economic cooperation. For this purpose, meetings were held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina Diana Mondino , Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy of Dominica Vinson Henderson, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador Gabriela Sommerfeld, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Grenada Joseph Andall, Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Keisal Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Lucia Alva Baptiste , CEO of Foreign Affairs of Belize Amalia Mai, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas Jamal Strechan, the Permanent Representative of Antigua and Barbuda to the OAS, Ronald Sanders .
The work carried out is aimed at strengthening the diplomatic presence of Ukraine in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, establishing direct bilateral contacts at the level of the leadership of foreign ministries, and involving more states of the region in establishing a just peace in Ukraine
