The delegation of Ukraine will focus its negotiations and speeches in Brussels on four priority decisions on Ukraine expected this week: the European Council's decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, the approval of a long-term program of support for Ukraine for 2024-2027, the financing of military assistance for our country and the adoption of the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Monday, December 11, 2023, while speaking to journalists before the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
"Today I came to Brussels with a very concrete result. Out of the four laws that Ukraine had to adopt in accordance with the European Commission's report, three have been passed by the Parliament and signed by the President. The fourth law has already been registered in Parliament and will be adopted. We expect that the EU will decide to open negotiations on Ukraine's membership at the European Council summit in a few days," the Minister said.
According to Dmytro Kuleba, the second priority will be to fill the Ukraine Facility, which will provide reliable and long-term EU support for Ukraine for 2024–2027.
"Another important topic will be to ensure the filling of the European Peace Facility, so that the European Union can continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons and ammunition, strengthen the defense capabilities of our country in its fight against Russian aggression," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed.
The fourth priority will be the adoption of the 12th EU sanctions package to limit Russia's ability to continue its aggression.
