On September 28, 2021, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik during his visit to Kuwait held meetings with Chairman of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Al-Sager, President of Union of Investment Companies Saleh Al-Selmi and investment analyst of Kuwait Investment Authority Yousif Al-Mathkoor.
Dmytro Senik and his Kuwaiti partners discussed steps towards increasing the volume of trade and attracting new investments to Ukraine.
“The current bilateral trade between Ukraine and Kuwait has a great potential for further growth.We have significant prospects for realization of joint bilateral investment projects in such promising spheres as aviation, heavy industry, shipbuilding, information technologies, oil and gas sector. We are ready to intensify our interaction both at the state and business levels”, - Deputy Minister stated.
Dmytro Senik offered the counterparts to organize a business mission of Kuwaiti companies to Ukraine in order to get acquainted with the investment opportunities of our country.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine and Mohammed Al-Sager paid special attention to the development of cooperation between the Exporters and Investors Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to the Ukrainian diplomat, conferences on trade peculiarities held on regular basis by the Exporters and Investors Council under the MFA of Ukraine and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce andIndustry proved to be an effective instrument of intensification of bilateral business cooperation and expansion of trade nomenclature.
For reference: on March 14, 2021 Exporters and Investors Council under the MFA of Ukraine and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Since then, 5 online conferences on various aspects of trade relations between Ukraine and Kuwait have been organized jointly with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gathering over 400 business representatives as participants.
Total volume of trade in goods between Ukraine and the State of Kuwait for the period January-July 2021 amounted to USD 17.47 million. In particular, exports of goods – USD 16.62 million, imports – USD 0.85 million. The balance of trade in goods was positive for Ukraine - USD 15.77 million.
