On 9 December 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik received copies of the credentials from the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Ukraine (with residence in Warsaw) Her Excellency Mervat Fadhl Mojali.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current situation in Yemen, prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Yemeni relations, emphasizing importance of continuing constructive cooperation between the two countries within the international organizations.
Dmytro Senik noted positive trend of growing bilateral trade between Ukraine and Yemen during previous years and expressed Ukraine’s interest in expanding Ukrainian export.
“Ukraine is interested in increasing bilateral trade. We are ready to play more active role in ensuring Yemen’s food security”, the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
The interlocutors also discussed plans for the post-conflict reconstruction of Yemen and Ukrainian companies’ possible participation in the projects of rebuilding of the Yemeni reconstruction.

In 2019 bilateral trade between Ukraine and Yemen amounted to 138,76 million USD. Ukrainian export amounted to 136,71 million USD (increase by 119,8% compared to 2018).
From January till November 2020 bilateral trade amounted to 161,16 million USD (positive trade balance for our country amounted to 160,88 million USD).
The main products of Ukrainian exports were cereals (87.5%), sugar and confectionery (3.0%), animal or plant fats and oils (2.4%), cocoa and cocoa preparations (2.4%), meat and meat preparations (1.2%) and grain products (1.0%). The basis of imports from Yemen to Ukraine were plastics and polymeric materials (99.9%).
