On 8 December 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik received Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Ukraine Rashed Al-Adwani.

Dmytro Senik congratulated the Head of Kuwaiti diplomatic mission in Kyiv with the parliamentary elections held in his country on December 5 and expressed hope for intensification of political dialogue between the two countries. The Sides agreed to hold the next session of bilateral political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Ukraine and Kuwait in the nearest future.

The interlocutors expressed mutual interest in further development of trade and investment cooperation.

Deputy Minister stressed the readiness of Ukrainian side to hold the Fifth session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kuwaiti Commission on Economic, Technical and Trade Cooperation in Kyiv in 2021 as soon as the epidemiological situation allows it.  

Dmytro Senik emphasized the interest of Ukraine in increasing of investment portfolio in Ukrainian economy by Kuwaiti partners.

Diplomats agreed to work on the issue of launching the direct flights between Ukraine and Kuwait that will help intensify economic contacts between the two countries.

“Unimpeded movement of tourists and businessmen between Ukraine and Kuwait is one of the priorities of our bilateral cooperation. Introducing by Ukraine a visa-free regime for Kuwaiti citizens was one of the steps in this direction”, - noted Dmytro Senik during the meeting.

Reference: Total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Kuwait in 2019 amounted to USD 42,4 million (growth of 109% compared to 2018). In January-September, 2020 , it reached USD 31,83 million (growth of 12% compared to the same period of 2019).

The Fourth session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kuwaiti Commission on Economic, Technical and Trade Cooperation took place in November 2018, in Kuwait.

Presidential decree of 21 July 2020 № 289 introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of a number of countries, in particular for citizens of Kuwait, unless the period of their stay in Ukraine does not exceed 90 days during 180 days.

For citizens of Ukraine there is a visa regime upon arrival at the airport. The cost of entry visa is USD 10.
