On September 12, 2023, the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova held a meeting with Alessia Schiavon, who started her work in Ukraine as the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ukraine.
The parties positively noted the level of cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the IOM and the significant activation of the Organization's activities in the humanitarian sphere since February 2022. Emine Dzhaparova and Alessia Schiavon paid special attention to urgent humanitarian needs and assistance to internally displaced persons.
In addition, the First Deputy Minister and the Chief of IOM Mission in Ukraine discussed the Organization's provision of support to Ukrainians who were forced to leave for other countries due to Russian aggression, in particular, psychological support within the framework of the implementation of the All-Ukrainian mental health program initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
Emine Dzhaparova expressed her gratitude to the IOM Mission in Ukraine for the implementation of joint projects with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and noted the importance of further work on strengthening the capacities of the consular service of Ukraine.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is particularly interested in using the experience and resources of the IOM to support the recovery of business and strengthen the economic stability of Ukraine through the promotion of exports, the use of economic diplomacy tools and the active involvement of the Ukrainian diaspora," the First Deputy Minister stressed.
Emine Dzhaparova and Alessia Schiavon expressed hope for further fruitful interaction and successful implementation of IOM projects in Ukraine.
