On June 3-4, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Iryna Borovets paid a working visit to the Republic of Peru, during which she held a number of meetings aimed at strengthening and activization of bilateral relations.
During the visit, Iryna Borovets held negotiations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Peter Kennock. The parties discussed ways of deepening political and economic bilateral cooperation, as well as intensification of political contacts, including the highest level. During the meeting, Deputy Minister paid special attention to discussing the achievement of sustainable peace in Ukraine and the importance of Peru's involvement in the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine, as well as the country's participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland at the highest level. Iryna Borovets invited the Peruvian Side to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
During the meeting with Peruvian Minister of Justice and Human Rights Protection, Eduardo Arana, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of justice and human rights, including efforts aimed at bringing Russia to justice for war crimes committed in Ukraine, as well as for human rights violations on the temporarily occupied territories.
The Deputy Minister also met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Congress of Peru, Alejandro Aguinaga, with whom she raised the issue of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and further strengthening of bilateral relations between our countries. The parties welcomed the creation in Ukraine of the Inter-factional Association "Ukraine - Latin American and Caribbean States: Cooperation for the Future" and the readiness of the parliamentarians of both countries to intensify their dialog.
Iryna Borovets also visited the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and discussed with Director Julio Garro Gálvez the possibilities of academic exchange and cooperation in the field of training of diplomatic personnel.
During the meeting with the representatives of Ukrainian community in Lima, Iryna Borovets shared ideas on strengthening ties with Ukrainian communities abroad and thanked them for their activity in favor of Ukraine, as well as the preservation of Ukrainian identity in Latin America.
This visit became a logical step forward in the implementation of Ukraine's declared position regarding the intensification of cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the reload of our bilateral relations.
