The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the adoption by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe of the resolution “Russia: new threats to European democracies”, which sends a powerful signal of Europe’s unity in the face of Russia’s growing multidimensional threat.
The Assembly clearly states that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is a key factor destabilizing security across the entire continent. The resolution condemns Russia’s missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, incursions of Russian aircraft and drones into the airspace of Council of Europe member states, cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns, as well as direct interference in electoral processes of European states.
Of particular importance for us is that the Assembly:
Ukraine values PACE’s consolidated position, which consistently supports our people in their struggle for freedom, justice, and a European future.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the Council of Europe member states to swiftly implement the provisions of the resolution and to reinforce a common policy of deterrence and response to Russian threats.
