The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the adoption of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe resolution titled “Tracking the proceeds of the crime denounced by Sergei Magnitsky and holding its perpetrators accountable”.
Ukraine views this document as an important tool in the context of countering the Russian Federation’s aggression. Illegal financial flows, corruption, and money laundering linked to Russian state structures directly fuel its ability to wage war.
Denying access to such resources through effective tracing, freezing, and confiscation of assets is a key element in limiting the capabilities of the aggressor state.
Ukraine supports the strengthening of national and international mechanisms, including targeted sanctions (“Magnitsky legislation”) and the expansion of asset confiscation tools.
Ukraine will continue to work with partners to ensure accountability and stop the financing of aggression.
