On January 29, 2025, the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh met with the Director of the Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Mrs. Eynat Shlein.
Maksym Subkh expressed gratitude for Israel's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided to our state by the MASHAV agency.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current political, security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East and in the African continent.
In the context of the Middle East settlement, Maksym Subkh emphasized that Ukraine welcomes the achievement of an agreement between the State of Israel and Hamas on stabilizing the security situation in the Gaza Strip and expressed hope for the early release of all hostages still held captive in the enclave.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for possible cooperation on the African continent in the context of implementing humanitarian support programs for African countries.
Maksym Subkh informed the interlocutors about the expansion of Ukraine's diplomatic presence in African countries, the main achievements of Ukrainian diplomacy and the main priorities.
The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that the issue of ensuring global food security, including on the African continent, remains one of the most important areas of activity for the Ukrainian government.
In this context, Maksym Subkh informed the interlocutor about the successful implementation of the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, within the framework of which Ukrainian grain is being supplied to countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and invited the Israeli side to join this initiative. He also informed the Israeli side about the preparations for the Fourth International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine (URC2025, 10-11.07.2025, Rome, Italy) and expressed hope for Israel’s participation in it.
