On 9 October Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the Republic of Sudan Musa Saeed.
During the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres. The Special Representative emphasized the readiness of the Ukrainian side to intensify efforts to identify and develop mutually beneficial forms of cooperation with Sudan, which, in particular, will be facilitated by the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Sudan in the near future.
Maksym Subkh noted Musa Saeed's significant contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two countries, as well as the efforts of the Honorary Consul in providing assistance during the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Sudan after the deterioration of the security situation in April 2023.
The Special Representative of Ukraine informed the Honorary Consul about the negative global consequences of full-scale Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, in particular, in the context of ensuring food security in Africa. Maksym Subkh expressed the request to convey an oral invitation to the leadership of the Republic of the Sudan to participate in the Third International Summit of the "Grain from Ukraine" humanitarian program, which is scheduled for the end of this year.
The Ukrainian diplomat also emphasized the need to inform the Sudanese leadership about the importance of the Republic of the Sudan’s involvement in the international events and initiatives, launched by Ukraine aimed at implementing the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
For his part, Musa Saeed informed in detail about the development of the situation in Sudan in the context of the ongoing confrontation between the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
The Honorary Consul expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the fight against Russian armed aggression and thanked the leadership of our country for the decision to provide Sudan with humanitarian aid in the form of flour supplies from Ukraine.
