On June 20 Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh met with Ambassador of France to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière.
The parties discussed the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in the Middle East due to the latest escalation of the military confrontation between Israel and Iran, exchanging views on the impact of these events on global security and stability.
Both sides agreed that it was unacceptable for Iran to possess nuclear weapons, which would have irreparable consequences for the region and the world, and that Russia was in no position to act as a mediator in the negotiations between Israel and Iran, as it is an aggressor state that is in violation of international law and the UN Charter.
During the meeting, the parties also paid special attention to the issues of developing bilateral relations with Syria as well as countering the spread of Russian disinformation on the African continent.
