Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a fruitful call with my Latvian colleague and friend Baiba Braže. 

I personally congratulated her on Latvia’s recent election to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member for 2026–2027. 

It is a recognition of Latvia’s principled foreign policy and my colleague’s personal leadership in restoring respect to the UN Charter and international law.  

We agreed to deepen cooperation within the UN and coordinated joint efforts ahead of important international events, including the upcoming NATO Summit in The Hague. 

I expressed my gratitude to the Latvian Saeima for adopting yesterday a Statement calling on NATO member states to actively advance the process of inviting Ukraine. 

We also focused on strengthening pressure on Russia to accept a durable and full ceasefire, ensuring Ukraine’s priority defense needs, and advancing our EU accession, including the opening of negotiation clusters."
