On April 11, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh, as part of his tour of African countries, paid a working visit to Abidjan with the aim of official opening the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
The opening ceremony of the Embassy was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad Ouattara Wautabouna, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Côte d'Ivoire Koffi Evariste Yapi, heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine’s partner countries, representatives of the Ivorian public and mass media.
“The opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Cote d'Ivoire - a country that is rightly considered one of the leaders in the West African region, is explained, first of all, by our desire to intensify comprehensive cooperation with Ivorian partners”, Maksym Soubkh said during his speech.
During the visit the special representative also held a separate meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad Ouattara Wautabouna, he also transferred to him a personal message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
The parties positively assessed the existing state and dynamics of bilateral contacts on the political track. The Ukrainian and Ivorian delegations also discussed an action plan for the development of inter-sectoral dialogue, which is quite promising in light of the opening of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in the Ivorian capital.
Maksym Subkh expressed his gratitude to the Ivorian side for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which it has consistently demonstrated since 2014.
The Ukrainian side also informed Ouattara Wautabouna about the preparations for the Global Peace Summit, and expressed hope for participation in the Summit of the President of Côte d'Ivoire.
The Deputy Head of the Ivorian Diplomacy, in his turn, confirmed that the Ivorian side’s support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression is “firm and unwavering”.
