On June 13, 2024 as a part of a working visit to Windhoek, Republic of Namibia, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh was received by Speaker of the National Assembly of this country, Peter Katjawavi. Also, Maksym Subkh had a meeting with Acting Director of the Directorate of European Countries of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia Elvis Shiweda.

During the meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia, prospects of establishing and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed. In this regard, Speaker’s participation in the visit of the Special Mission of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to Ukraine in July 2022 was positively noted.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Namibia, the first one in the last 12 years, Maksym Subkh informed Elvis Shiweda that Ukraine will remain a reliable guarantor of food security in Africa, which is still under threat by Russian aggression. The Namibian side was urged to reconsider its neutral stance regarding Russian aggression against Ukraine and to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state in accordance with the UN Charter and the fundamental norms of international law, as well as to join international efforts aimed at achieving a just peace for Ukraine and the whole world.

Maksym Subkh informed the representatives of the legislative and executive branches of power of Namibia about the situation in Ukraine, the ongoing Russian armed aggression, and emphasized the extreme importance of the first Global Peace Summit in Switzerland as the only possible way to achieve a just peace and stop the ongoing Russian aggression.
