On June 10-12, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Iryna Borovets paid a working visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil. During the visit, the Ukrainian-Brazilian political consultations were held as well as a number of working meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.
During political consultations at the deputy minister level, Iryna Borovets and her counterpart, Maria Luiza Escorel de Moraes, conducted a thorough analysis of the state of bilateral relations. The parties agreed on further joint actions and measures to intensify political contacts, including at the highest level, enhance economic cooperation, and provide mutual support within international organizations.
Special attention during the consultations was given by Deputy Minister Iryna Borovets to discussing the achievement of just and stable peace in Ukraine and the importance of involving Brazil in implementing the points of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine, including the necessity of participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.
During a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services of Brazil, Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister emphasized the need for additional measures to increase bilateral trade and support business representatives in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation. Iryna Borovets reiterated the invitation for Brazilian companies to participate in projects of Ukraine's reconstruction.
The Deputy Minister discussed with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, Irája Lacerda, the activation of cooperation in the fields of agriculture and livestock, as well as Ukraine's participation in the implementation of Brazil's priorities during its G20 presidency.
During a meeting with Arthur Fernando Bettêga Corrêa, Director of Strategic Relations at the Ministry of Defense of Brazil, Iryna Borovets highlighted the need to implement agreements from the January conversation between the Ministers of Defense of Ukraine and Brazil and explore new opportunities for cooperation in military and military-technical fields.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held a number of meetings in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Brazil, in particular with Chairman of the Ukraine-Brazil Parliamentary Group in the Senate Flávio Arns, a member of the group Senator Esperidião Amin; Senator Damares Alves, Chairman of the Ukraine-Brazil Friendship Group in the Chamber of Deputies Félix Mendonça and Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and National Defense of the Chamber of Deputies Lucas Redecker.
During these meetings Iryna Borovets emphasized the significant role of the National Congress in making decisions to support Ukraine practically. The Deputy Minister noted the necessity of developing interparliamentary dialogue, particularly within the framework of cooperation groups between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the National Congress of Brazil, and the importance of an expected visit by a delegation of Brazilian parliamentarians to Ukraine.
During a meeting with Secretary of International Relations of the Federal Government of Brasilia Paco Britto was reached an agreement on conducting mutual cultural events in Kyiv and Brasilia.
As part of the visit, Iryna Borovets participated in an expert discussion "Ukraine-Latin America Expert Round Table," held a meeting with the Rector of the University of Brasilia Márcia Abrahão Moura and the university's research group, and gave interviews to CNN Brasil and "Folha de São Paulo".
This visit became another step in intensifying cooperation with the Latin America states and reloading of bilateral relations.
