On January 17, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held online consultations with the Special Commissioner of the Government of the Czech Republic for Ukraine’s reconstruction Tomáš Kopečný and the Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Nicol Adamcová.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic in developing relations with African countries, fighting global challenges, and ensuring global food security. The Czech side welcomed the decision of Ukraine to intensify work with African countries and expand its diplomatic presence on this continent. It was agreed to coordinate efforts to mobilize support for Ukraine by the African states and counter the Russian propaganda in Africa.

Tomáš Kopečný noted the priority of protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and countering Russian aggression. He reiterated the intentions of the Czech Republic to continue providing comprehensive support to our country.

Maksym Subkh informed about the achievements of Ukraine on the African track during 2022 and emphasized that the first historical tour of Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba to the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa demonstrated the significant potential and specific prospects for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation. The Ukrainian side will continue systematic work not only to maintain but also to further enhance the dynamics of the development of relations with the African partners throughout 2023.

The parties agreed to start regular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Czech Republic regarding Africa.
