11 September 2025 13:29

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa received the newly appointed Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ukraine, Robert Turner, who has begun his work in our country.

Mariana Betsa highly appreciated the level of cooperation between Ukraine and IOM in addressing the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s armed aggression and emphasized the importance of maintaining IOM’s support for Ukraine.

The Deputy Minister underlined the necessity of effective implementation of the IOM Strategic Response Plan for Ukraine for 2024–2026, in particular the continuation of IOM assistance to internally displaced persons and affected communities.

In addition, Mariana Betsa stressed the important role of IOM in supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts, especially in restoring damaged housing, social facilities, and critical infrastructure, as well as in promoting economic activity.

For his part, Robert Turner noted that he would begin carrying out his mandate in Ukraine by visiting the regions most affected by Russia’s aggression.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and IOM.
