On November 14, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held a meeting with Representative of United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine Munir Mammadzade.
Mariana Betsa informed about serious security and humanitarian threats faced by Ukrainian children amidst Russian aggression, which has been lasting for almost 1000 days. In this connection, she emphasized the importance of international organizations' support for President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and highlighted the importance of the activities and projects implemented by UNICEF in Ukraine.
"We are grateful for UNICEF's invaluable assistance to millions of children and families with kids who found themselves in a difficult situation due to Russia's war of aggression against our country. Ensuring that children live in warm homes and have all the essentials, the possibility to study as well as psychological support are among priorities of the Government of Ukraine", said Mariana Betsa.
Munir Mammadzade, in his turn, emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale war in February 2022, UNICEF has allocated around 1 billion of US dollars to provide humanitarian aid to affected families with children, to ensure the appropriate level of medical services for children living in the most affected areas of Ukraine as well as to ensure that children can have access to education. He assured that UNICEF is doing everything possible and will continue to make efforts so that children in Ukraine do not know the hardships caused by the war.
Deputy Minister also discussed with Munir Mammadzade a number of joint initiatives of the MFA and UNICEF.
